New Crossfire® MonoGutTM tennis hybrid string sets from Ashaway Racket Strings offer a unique combination of durability, playability and tension holding. The sets are ideal for both hard hitters who want a softer playing string and power players who are looking for a more durable hybrid.
The mains of the hybrid sets are Ashaway's MonoGut tennis string, a multi-polymer monofilament that offers the durability of a traditional monofilament string and the responsiveness of a synthetic gut, all in one string. It was designed to stand up to aggressive play, while providing good feel and control.
The 16L (1.27 mm) gauge MonoGut mains work in union with the 16 (1.30 mm) gauge synthetic gut crosses to produce a more playable stringbed. This combination provides a durable hybrid that is not as stiff as Aramid hybrids.
The synthetic gut crosses are manufactured with an abrasion resistant wear layer to resist notching and offer easy stringing. They are made in the United States from an advanced nylon polymer, for softer playability than most synthetic gut strings. The MonoGut mains are manufactured in Germany to Ashaway's specifications.
The sets include 23 ft (7 M) MonoGut mains in metallic silver and 20 ft (6 M) synthetic gut crosses in white. Recommended stringing tension is up to 65 lbs (29.5 kgs) for the mains and up to 70 lbs (32 kgs) for the crosses. Ashaway suggests that players string the MonoGut mains at 10 - 20% less tension than they are used to, to achieve best results.
