Ashaway Introduces UltraKill® 16 Racquetball String

Ashaway Racket Strings has introduced the newest member of its popular UltraKill® family of racquetball strings. New UltraKill 16 utilizes the same Zyex® core polymer as other members of the family, but in a special, multi-stranded monofilament construction that increases power and resilience. This Zyex construction allows UltraKill 16 to maintain tension throughout the life of the string for consistent performance, and the rugged 16 gauge (1.30 mm) thickness maximizes durability for chronic string breakers.

Ashaway, RI - Ashaway Racket Strings has introduced the newest member of its popular UltraKill® family of racquetball strings. New UltraKill 16 utilizes the same Zyex® core polymer as other members of the family, but in a special, multi-stranded monofilament construction that increases power and resilience. This Zyex construction allows UltraKill 16 to maintain tension throughout the life of the string for consistent performance, and the rugged 16 gauge (1.30 mm) thickness maximizes durability for chronic string breakers.

"UltraKill 16 is the workhorse in the family," said Steve Crandall, Ashaway's Vice President of Marketing. "It's designed to provide exceptional power and ball control for amateur or professional players who hit the ball really hard and break a lot of strings. The Zyex core in UltraKill 16 minimizes tension loss for more consistent performance, and the braided surface maximizes control and increases spin."

Testimony to UltraKill 16's toughness, it has recently been adopted as the string of choice by racquetball great Jack Huczek. Jack, who advises Ashaway on product development and was an early play-tester for the UltraKill family, uses an UltraKill hybrid combination with the black, 16 gauge UltraKill for his mains and the green, 17 gauge for his crosses. "This combination gives me an excellent balance of power, resilience and control," he said. "It maintains tension far longer than other strings, and I don't break nearly as many strings!"

Gloss black in color, UltraKill 16 is available in 40 ft sets (12 m) and 360 ft reels (110 m). Because of the tension holding properties of Zyex, Ashaway recommends stringing UltraKill 16 up to a maximum of 35 lbs tension, or approximately 10-15% less than standard racquetball strings.
